Warren Recruiting has been retained by a top-tier, highly regarded Law Firm to identify their next Chief Financial Officer.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, the CFO will serve as the firm’s senior financial executive, providing strategic direction across all financial operations, capital management, and fiscal strategy. Key Strategic Priorities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating complex financial data, variances, and performance trends into actionable business insights and growth strategies.
- Capital & Treasury Management: Direct cash flow, treasury, lockbox services, and banking relationships; manage short-term liquidity, working capital, and strategic investment of surplus funds.
- Departmental Elevation: Supervise, mentor, and build a high-performing financial team (including Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager, and Senior Accountants), fostering a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Systems & Process Modernization: Oversee the administration, optimization, and reporting capabilities of enterprise financial management software and tech stacks to improve operational efficiency and reporting agility.
- Comprehensive Fiscal Operations: Ensure flawless execution across budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management, financial statements, partner/owner financial activities, and trust accounting.
- Governance & Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and refine robust accounting policies and internal controls to protect assets, ensure audit readiness, and maintain strict regulatory and tax compliance.
Ideal Profile
- Active CPA Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance paired with an active CPA license.
- Proven Leadership Experience: At least 8+ years of progressive financial management experience, alongside 5+ years of direct team leadership.
- Professional Services Background: Strong background in partnership accounting, professional services, or legal industry environments (experience with legal billing systems and client trust accounting is a major plus).
- Technical & Financial Expertise: Deep mastery of GAAP, internal controls, tax compliance, payroll administration, audit coordination, and advanced enterprise ERP systems/Excel.
- Executive Presence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the confidence, discretion, and gravitas to present financial insights to executive committees and key stakeholders.
