Warren Recruiting is seeking a Transactional Lawyer with a background in commercial contracts, real estate or general commercial transactions for an in-house counsel role in Houston as a Construction Attorney for Energy Company. No relocating candidates will be considered. An engineering or construction background, either pre-law or as an attorney, is preferred. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level associate interested in a broad in-house practice and serving in both a legal and business capacity. Target compensation is $150,000.00 plus strong bonus potential. Travel to Canada will be required.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will meet the requirements listed below, which are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • In-house experience required.
  • Experience with Canadian laws the legal environment
  • Customer service orientation, team player and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done required.
  • Engineering, project management or construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with employment law a plus.
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited and well-respected institute; admission in good standing to the Texas bar
  • 4-7 years legal experience; compensation commensurate (2009 – 2012)
  • Motivated self-starter requiring minimal guidance yet knows when to ask for help
  • Strong initiative as well as excellent management, teamwork, creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to problems
  • Desire to learn the business and understand market as well as internal drivers; ability to quickly assess risk and provide meaningful business-savvy guidance.
  • Ability to quickly triage, separating the mission-critical from the nice to dos and trivials and focusing on the matters that add the most value and risk mitigation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; and acute attention to detail
  • Easy to approach; builds trust and rapport
  • Some travel will be required
